Safety Standards

Last updated: 2026-09-09

JomSnap is built for real events attended by real families and communities, and we take the safety of everyone in the room seriously. These Safety Standards describe how content on JomSnap is moderated, and are informed by Malaysia’s content-safety framework, including the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code administered under it.

1. Our moderation system

Every photo and guest-book message on JomSnap passes through at least one, and typically two, layers of moderation:

  • Host review — every Host has a moderation queue and full authority to approve, reject, or permanently delete any photo or message submitted to their Event, at any time.
  • Optional AI-assisted pre-screen — a Host may opt an Event, and a specific content type, into an AI moderation pass that flags anything needing a second look before it is auto-approved, rather than silently blocking it. This is only available where the Host has also enabled auto-approval, and every flag still lands in the Host’s own review queue.

On top of this, any Guest can flag another Guest’s approved photo or guest-book message for their Host to review, choosing a reason such as inappropriate or offensive content, nudity or sexual content, violence, harassment or bullying, spam, content not from the event, or another reason. A Host may also configure an Event so that once a set number of distinct Guests flag the same item, it is automatically hidden pending the Host’s review — this never permanently deletes anything by itself, and the Host can restore it.

2. Prohibited content

The following is never permitted on JomSnap:

  • Unlawful content of any kind;
  • Indecent, obscene, or pornographic content;
  • Content that threatens, harasses, or bullies any person;
  • Hate speech, or content that incites racial, religious, or ethnic disharmony;
  • Violent or graphic content;
  • Spam or advertising unrelated to the event;
  • Content that infringes another person’s intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • Impersonation of another person;
  • Any content involving minors that is inappropriate in any way.

3. A note for Malaysia’s diverse society

Events on JomSnap often bring together guests of different races, religions, and backgrounds — a strength of Malaysian celebrations that we want every gallery to reflect respectfully. We ask every Host and Guest to be mindful of racial and religious sensitivities, and we treat content that incites disharmony along these lines as a serious violation of these Standards.

4. Minors at events

Many JomSnap events are family occasions attended by children. Hosts running such events should use their own discretion about what is appropriate to show on a public TV Display — for example, JomSnap’s slideshow can be configured to only ever show content that has already been through the Host’s reveal, giving the Host a final checkpoint before anything reaches a shared screen. This guidance is a practical recommendation to Hosts, not a technical guarantee, and Hosts remain responsible for supervision appropriate to their own event.

5. Reporting a concern

Guests can flag any approved photo or guest-book message directly within JomSnap, as described above. Anyone else — including someone who isn’t a Guest, a rights-holder, or a law enforcement authority — can reach us directly via Contact us to report a concern about content on JomSnap.

6. What happens after a report

A Guest’s in-app flag goes straight to the Event’s Host for review, and may automatically hide the content first if the Event’s auto-hide threshold is met. Reports made directly to us through Contact us are reviewed by JomSnap, and where appropriate we will follow up with the relevant Host or take platform-level action ourselves. We aim to review reports we receive within 24 hours, though this is a target we work towards rather than a guaranteed response time.

7. Enforcement

Hosts may reject, permanently delete, or restore content on their own Event, and may suspend their own Event at any time, which immediately pauses all Guest activity on it. For serious or repeated violations of these Standards, JomSnap may independently suspend or delete an Event, or suspend or terminate a Host’s account, at the platform level.
